New Work at The Elms

Hello all,

I hope you are well! I would like to announce that my work is now being shown in JBR ART at The Elms, 2810 N Walker Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73103. This gallery, located in the Paseo Art District, is a wonderful place filled with the work of many talented artists. My current work being displayed are the nudes I did while in Philadelphia. I encourage you all to come by the gallery and view not only my work, but also the other local artists working within the Oklahoma City area.

Ask me if you have any questions.

Thank You Oklahoma!

50 years ago, I stood in a courtroom, here in Oklahoma, swore my allegiance to this country and gained my citizenship. May 20th of this year, I sat in that exact courtroom, surrounded by my own artwork. I was attending the portrait unveiling of former Chief Judge, Vicki Miles-LaGrange. The portrait will be hung in the ceremonial courtroom after being framed.

As OU’s president, David Boren congratulated me after the unveiling of the portrait, I couldn’t help but think about how lucky I am to be a part of history in such a great state! The kindness and hospitality Oklahoma has shown me over the years have been overwhelming! I’m so appreciative to have made my mark in a community such as this one here!

Mitsuno Attends Norman Depot

The first opening reception for my one-person exhibit “Dances with Brushes” took place on May 13, and many people came and filled the gallery. .  I was so busy talking with everyone that evening that 3 hours just whizzed by.    Nancy McClellan, the director of The Depot, said it was very well attended.   It was great to see so many Normanites as well as friends and clients from the Greater Oklahoma City area, whom I hadn’t seen for years!  Thanks to the publicity in the newspapers, radio and magazine!

It was great that someone bought my pastel floral which I painted as soon as I came back to Norman in June 2015.  Although it wasn’t in oil, my style must have been different from the way I painted before I went to study at Studio Incamminati.  Hmmm.  Maybe I should paint in pastel again, too!

By the way, the workshop enrollment is filling up and I’m looking forward to those two days next week!  If you are interested in taking it, there are a couple more spaces left, so please contact The Depot and enroll!  You won’t be sorry you took it!  The other reception is going to be held from 6-9 pm on Friday, June 10, 2016.  See you there!

There will be a second reception held for me at The Depot Gallery on Friday, June 10. This reception is in conjunction with Norman's second art walk and will take place at 6 p.m. And don't worry, my paintings will be remaining in the Depot Gallery through June 30!

Hope to see you there!

Mistuno Reedy offers "Painting the Portrait" Workshop

I am offering a workshop on "Painting the Portrait" in conjunction with my, "Dances with Brushes" exhibit at The Depot Gallery. The two day workshop will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (with a lunch break) on Wednesday and Thursday, June 8 and 9. The workshop is appropriate for beginning to intermediate students, but advanced students are also welcome! By learning how an image is built on a series of relationships, students learn the process of painting the head from a live model and learn the visual principles at each stage of development. I will  be demonstrating in charcoal and oils. Tuition is $200 and a list of materials needed will be provided at the time of enrollment.

Thank you!

Contact The Depot at 405-307-9320 to enroll.

Reedy Takes The Depot Gallery

It's an honor to announce that I will have my work displayed in The Depot Gallery from May 9 to June 30, 2016. My Exhibit, “Dances With Brushes” will showcase the work I've done within the past four years, during my time at Studio Incamminati. Though, I have previously been noticed for my work in pastels, I have recently begun working in oils. The Exhibit begins May 9, with an opening reception held on May 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. An artist talk will be given June 5, starting at 2 p.m., and a workshop is offered on June 8 & 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A second reception will be held June 10. The Depot Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and entry is free.

Mitsuno Ishii Reedy can’t remember when she became an artist but she can remember when she gave up art. And, luckily, she also remembers when she rediscovered it.
